What to ask your barber
I would like a mid taper at the temples and nape, retaining the fuller hair above it. Keep the rounded coily outline and fullness above the transition. Before cutting, let’s agree whether the shortest edges show skin or visible hair, and choose a finish I can maintain at home.

- Work with your normal wash-and-condition routine; detangle gently with enough slip while the hair is wet.
- For defined coils, distribute a curl cream or gel through the hair. For a softer rounded outline, use less hold and avoid flattening the sides.
- Let the hair dry, then make small adjustments to the outline. Judge the length and fullness in its dry state.
