Mid taper fade with a straight side part
A natural side part gives direction to a fuller straight top with a low-shine finish. The side views show how the swept hair connects with the weight above the ears.
What to ask your barber
I would like a mid taper at the temples and nape, retaining the fuller hair above it. Keep a natural side part and enough top length to sweep across. Before cutting, let’s agree whether the shortest edges show skin or visible hair, and choose a finish I can maintain at home.

- Set the parting or side direction while the hair is damp, then dry it in that direction.
- For a matte finish, work a small amount of paste or clay through dry hair; use a cream or pomade if you prefer a softer or shinier finish.
- Start with less product and add only where needed. The tapered edges need little styling; focus on the top.
